1. BACK PANEL
CREATE A HDC FOUNDATION CHAIN OF 80 (100, 100, 120, 120, 140, 160)
80 { 80, 80, 100, 100, 120, 140}
*OR CHAIN THE NUMBER ABOVE PLUS 1, HDC IN 2ND CH FROM HOOK, HDC IN EACH CH.*

ROW 2: TURN CH 1, HDC IN EACH ST, AND CH SPACE. 80 (100, 100, 120, 120, 140, 160) 80 { 80, 80, 100, 100, 120, 140}
KEEP REPEATING ROWS 1-2 UNTIL YOU REACHED YOUR DESIRED LENGTH. BE SURE TO END ON A HDC ROW, THEN CONTINUE TO FRONT PANEL INSTRUCTIONS. I MADE MINE INTO A CROPPED CARDIGAN WITH A TOTAL OF 37 ROWS (18 INCHES LONG) SEE PHOTO 1 ON PAGE 8 TO SEE THE LENGTH OF MINE.
2. FIRST FRONT PANEL
Note: the construction will first be back panel, continuing to first front panel so you will not be cutting yarn and reattaching at This point.
Place your stitch marker in the 31 ( 41, 41, 41, 41, 51, 61) HDC from your previous row, this will become your stopping point to end your row.
ROW 1 FOR XS & 2XL ONLY: TURN, CH 3, DC2TG,*[CH 1, SK 1 ST, DC] REPEAT [ ] 2 MORE TIMES. CH 1, SK 1, 5DC IN SAME ST. [CH 1, SK 1 ST, DC] REPEAT [ ] 2 MORE TIMES. CH 1, SK 1, DC5TG.* REPEAT * * UNTIL LAST ST. PLACE 3 DC IN LAST ST TO END YOUR ROW.

ROW 2 ALL SIZES : : TURN CH 1, HDC IN EACH ST, AND CH SPACE. 80 (100, 100, 120, 120, 140, 160) 80 { 80, 80, 100, 100, 120, 140}
REPEAT ROWS 1-2 UNTIL YOU REACHED THE SAME LENGTH AS YOUR BACK PANEL. TIE OFF LEAVING LONG TAIL FOR SEAMING.
3. SECOND FRONT PANEL
Counting from the opposite side of your back panel, Place your stitch marker in the 31 ( 41, 41, 41, 41, 51, 61) HDC from your previous row. Attach your yarn to the stitch where you stitch marker is, you will now work from that stitch going toward the edge of your back panel. See photo 2 on page 9
ROW 1 FOR XS & 2XL ONLY TURN, CH 3, DC2TG,*[CH 1, SK 1 ST, DC] REPEAT [ ] 2 MORE TIMES. CH 1, SK 1, 5DC IN SAME ST. [CH 1, SK 1 ST, DC] REPEAT [ ] 2 MORE TIMES. CH 1, SK 1, DC5TG.* REPEAT * * UNTIL LAST ST. PLACE 3 DC IN LAST ST TO END YOUR ROW.

BEFORE MOVING TO ASSEMBLY I RECOMMEND YOU WET/STEAM BLOCK YOUR PIECE.

Assembly
You will now have a “U” shaped piece. Lay flat like shown You will then take one of the front panels, lay over top of above. Using your yarn needle and a yarn tail… the back panel. Line up the bottom edges, and whip stitch from the bottom upward. How much you whip stitch is dependent on how long you made your top. Just Be sure to leave 8-9 inches open for your arm holes.

my top fits with an 18 inch length. Front & Back Views

This shows the direction you should be working in for your second front panel *This is to ensure you are working on the “Right side”*
