Hi friends, I am back for my monthly round-up! This month I will be featuring 5 amazing makers, and their beanie patterns. There are both knit & crochet patterns in this round-up. I am so excited to share these with you! These all are beanies I have seen on IG that I fell in love with and absolutely had to share with everyone 🙂
This is my second ever “Sierra’s Picks” post, and I am so happy y’all enjoyed the first one so much! But if you are new, let me quickly go over what these posts are all about! I go on Instagram to round up patterns (free/paid, Knit/crochet) from makers that I already follow, and people I find through hashtags. (Be sure to use hashtag #SierrasPicks so I can see your next pattern to hopefully feature you in future posts!!) Each maker I feature has to have 10K or less of a following, simply because the whole idea behind these round-ups is to showcase “up and comers”, people who are putting out amazing content but might not have a large following just yet. I want to find those awesome peeps, showcase their talents to the audience I have *you wonderful readers ;)* in hopes that you can find some new maker friends, and great new patterns you might not have seen other wise!
Now are you ready to see this months patterns?! Let’s jump into it y’all!
1.

First up we have this super fun textured beanie, called the “Sofia Ribbed Beanie”. Created by Anastasia of @cozyhat
I found this on my hashtag search, and the texture in this hat stood out to me right away! Plus the photo alone is gorgeous! Soon as I saw it I knew I had to share it. This hat looks very warm, and stylish!
You can find this crochet hat pattern on RAVELRY for $6.50 USD
Now for my favorite part… Getting to know the maker!! I asked each maker to answer 3 questions for me so we can get to know them a little better 🙂 Here are Anastasia’s answers:
Q: How long have you been crocheting/knitting?
A: Professionally I have been crocheting for 7 years, taught myself in 2013 and ever since I’ve continued to learn something new, although basics of chaining and holding the hook were introduced to me by my mother in childhood.
Q:What are some of your favorite yarns to work with?
A: I love working with all types of yarn that’s the fun on it.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of crocheting/knitting?
A: I love reading books on spirituality, self development and unexplained phenomena, and I also love working with people as a practitioner in alternative healing modalities such as energy work and past life regression hypnosis.
2.

Next up we have these squishy soft beanies. These are called the “Slightly Slouchy Pom Beanie”, created by Gianna from @littleredknits
I follow Gianna, and she’s just the sweetest person! She has been a faux fur pom pom customer of mine since I started making them many years ago! (my husky love pom is on top of the left beanie in the photo!) She just started designing, and y’all she is killing it! This beanie is a staple beanie to add to your collection. All the squish, all the coziness, and its a super quick project! All wins in my book!
You can find this crochet beanie pattern on ETSY for $5 USD
Now lets learn some more about miss Gianna! Here are her “Meet The Maker” answers 🙂
Q: How long have you been crocheting/knitting?
A: I have been knitting since 2012, and crocheting since 2015. My grandma taught me how to knit on straight needles and the one thing I wanted to make so badly were hats. I struggled with seaming and was not experienced enough yet to tackle circular needles, so I went to youtube in 2015 and looked up how to crochet in the round. After learning the basics, I designed my favorite hat, the Slightly Slouchy Pom Beanie! It’s hands down my best seller at my shows year after year, so I was so excited to release it as a pattern. I am self taught crocheter, (thanks youtube!), and I have learned so many more techniques from other makers, patterns, and videos to perfect my crochet skills. I have started to even do private crochet lessons for a few people in my town. I have since picked up knitting again, and circular needles came so much more natural to me having learned how to crochet. Continental style knitting in the round is my new BFF!
Q:What are some of your favorite yarns to work with?
A: My absolutely favorite yarn is Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick – if that isn’t already so obvious by my IG feed! I use it almost exclusively for my markets and selling my finished goods – but since it does contain wool, I use a few Acrylic blends like Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, which is another one of my faves! As far as luxury yarns go, I love Malabrigo, mainly for their amazing colorways, and I love to support my fellow entrepreneurs so I try to get local hand dyed yarns whenever possible.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of crocheting/knitting?
A:That’s a tough one because knitting and crocheting has become such a huge part of my life, as it’s my biggest hobby turned business. But I love spending time with my family & friends, and my husband, Rockey, and I love to take our travel trailer all around Michigan in the summer and fall. This Spring we are venturing cross country with our pup, Henry, for a two week trip out west to Wyoming, Colorado, and more. We are very excited!
Be sure to save these to Pinterst to share with your maker friends!

Ali’s Meet The Maker answers:
Q: How long have you been crocheting/knitting?
A: I have been knitting/crocheting for about 15 years.
Q:What are some of your favorite yarns to work with?
A: My favorite yarns to work with are worsted weight soft yarn. Lion Brand Jeans is a current favorite! I enjoy super bulky as well, Malabrigo Rasta is amazing.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of crocheting/knitting?
A: Traveling for concerts. You get a vacation and an event in one! 🙂
4.

Next up we have these adorable little tree beanies! “The Fresh Balsam Beanie” created by Emily of @daisymaecrochet
These beanies scream winter to me and I love it!! This knit pattern gives off a classic yet modern look, and it seems to be the perfect beanie for besties 😉 Emily is building her Insta, and her own blog. Y’all should definitely go check this talented lady out!
You can find this knit pattern for FREE on Emilys BLOG
Ready to get to know Emily a little more? Here are her “Meet The Maker” answers 🙂
Q: How long have you been crocheting/knitting?
A: I have been knitting for about 14 years since a family friend taught me when I was little and I self-taught myself how to crochet about 10 years ago! I love both equally but I think crocheting goes by much quicker!
Q:What are some of your favorite yarns to work with?
A: I have been using a lot of lion brand products recently, especially the Wool-Ease Thick & Quick for all of my cozy hats! I love how cozy the finished product is when using the wool-ease yarn, warmth is the number one thing I want to achieve when making a hat! Living in the midwest right smack dab in the middle of this year’s polar vortex was misery, but it was “bearable” when bundled up!
Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of crocheting/knitting?
A: I use knitting and crocheting as a way to relax after a busy day (which is every day). I am currently a nursing student working full time as an aide at a hospital! As odd as it sounds to say that my job is my favorite thing to do it’s not a lie, I love what I do and caring for others who are sick is very rewarding!
5.

Here is one of my long time IG friend, Regina’s latest pattern! The “Magnolia Beanie”, created by Regina of @rthingscreations_
Regina and I have been following each other for years now on IG and have built such a fun friendship. If you have been following either of us you know she also has her velvet scrunchie pattern on my blog for free 😉 But today we are here to showcase this beautiful knit beanie! Love the texture in this one, and the fit. Its not too slouchy, and not too fitted… it’s just right 😉
You can find this knit pattern on ETSY for $5 USD
Here are Regina’s “Meet The Maker” answers 🙂
Q: How long have you been crocheting/knitting?
A: I have been crocheting for at least 15 years off and on. My grandma taught me when I was 10 and I make a lot of granny squares but didn’t pick up my hook again for along time. I have been knitting for about 10 years.
Q:What are some of your favorite yarns to work with?
A: I love working with cotton yarns and merino wool. Dk weight is a new found favorite weight. My desert island would have to be , must be merino from hobby lobby or lion brand bamboo cotton from their LB collection.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of crocheting/knitting?
A: I love to camp and I love being at the baseball and softball fields.
I also love to go wine tasting.
That’s it folks! I really hope you enjoyed this BEANIE round-up! I love finding these fun patterns to share. These makers are all so talented and have so many other great designs! I hope you check them all out and give them a follow to see what they come up with next 🙂
See ya next time friends!
