Summer is here friends! I am a sucker for summer dresses. I love sun dresses, maxi dresses, fancy dresses, and everything in between.
Because of my love for dresses, it has always been on my “To Make List”. I decided to take the plunge this spring to design and crochet my very first dress EVER! I came up with this fun, sassy, raglan style dress 🙂
I got a couple of my friends who tested this patten to come down to my city and take some awesome photos with me! My favorite part of this dress is how customizable it is to make, and how differently you can style it when you wear it! As you can tell from the photo above, we all are wearing the same dress just in different ways! How stinking cool right 🙂
My friends/models/photographer are:
Rin from @RinKnits on Insta &
Jenna from @a_cute_design

Skirt Portion
1- CH 2, 2DC in each st around. sl st to beginning DC. (This will create the ruffled look)
**This Round is totally customizable! If you want subtle ruffles follow the 2DC in each st. If you just want a straight look just place 1 DC in each st. If you want extreme ruffles, you can do 3DC in each st. See photos below for examples of each**

Brianna from @SouthShoreStitches created the straight style of the skirt!

I created the 2DC option for subtle ruffles!

Jenna from @a_cute_design did 3DC option for extreme ruffles!
Switch to your 5.5 mm I hook to continue making your skirt portion.
2- CH 2, DC in first st. DC in each st around. Sl St to beginning DC.

I am so super in love with this dress! I absolutely CANNOT wait to make one! Just need to find some size 3 yarn that I like. Would size 4 work? Like a Caron simply soft?
Thank you so much! I am glad you like it 🙂 Size 4 yarn might be a bit too big, resulting in the gauge to be off. But you can most certainly try it out and see where your gauge is. The most important is the width, as you can make the dress any length you want!
How cute is this dress. I want to make a straight and ruffle version both a bit longer than yours. I’m a “just-below-the-knee” kinda gal.
Yes! I am wanting to make a straight version now myself 😉
I love how you ladies look in this dress. Great pattern.
Thank you so much! 🙂
Can you please add the directions for the straight dress? Thank you
Hi there, the instructions for the straight version is already on the blog. Instead of placing 2 DC in the skirt portion you just place one. 😉
So cute! And it looks pretty simple to make! And very forgiving. Did you have to wear a layer underneath? Was the fabric see thru?
Thank you! Yes I did wear a slip underneath 🙂
I can’t wait to make one for myself. I simply love what Miranda (@crazy4crochetmomma) did to hers.
Yes she did an awesome job with hers! Loved how it came out, the colors were great! Hope you enjoy the pattern 🙂
