Crochet Beanie Pattern- The Bronx Beanie

Fall is right around the corner my friends! I am so excited to share my first beanie of my NYC themed collection. I wanted to offer this beauty as a free pattern on my blog, as well as a beginner friendly YouTube tutorial! 🙂

Say hello to “The Bronx Beanie”! This is a simple double brim beanie perfect for everyone! It will keep your ears cozy, and will go with every outfit. Me and my husband both love this beanie.

This beanie has so much potential to make your own. You can color block it like this-

Or do all one color like this-

You can also add a faux fur pom to the top or leave it as is! No matter how you slice it, this beanie is a must have handmade staple in your fall/winter closet!

Let’s jump into the pattern friends!

If you want an AD FREE PDF of this pattern you can purchase that here

Stitches Used

CH- Chain

HDC- Half Double Crochet

SL- Slip Stitch

Gauge

9 HDC X 4 HDC ROWS = 2 X 2 inches

Notes

This hat will be worked in continuous rounds.

You will use your stitch marker to keep track of your rounds.

The pattern is written for adult size hats. Fits 20-22 inches.

Brim Pattern

Ch 58, sl st Ch together to create circle. (Be sure not to twist your chain)

Working continuously (no sl st to  join for the remainder of the pattern)

Round 1-No Ch, Hdc in first st, place the st marker on this st, hdc in each st around. 58 HDC

Once your reach the st marker this will indicate a new round. Move your st marker to the first st of each new round to keep your place.

Round 2-14- No Ch, HDC in each st around. 58 HDC

We are now going to create the “Double Brim”

Fold the bottom of your brim up and line the starting round with round 14. Working through both pieces, HDC in each st around. 58 HDC

[Pictured below is an example of a the brim folded up and how you should work through both pieces.]

If you need more visual help with this part or this pattern you can find the step by step YouTube tutorial HERE.

If you want to color block and have your brim be a different color than the body like pictured above, switch to your second color now.

Body of the Beanie

Round 1-12- No Ch, HDC in each st around. 58 HDC

Round 13- HDC2TG all around. 29 HDC

Round 14- HDC around. 29 HDC

Round 15- HDC2TG,  HDC in last st. 15 HDC

Tie off leaving a long tail.

Use your tail to cinch close the remaining 15 HDC.

Use your Yarn Needle and the long tail, weave in and out of the 15 sts, pull closed and knot the end to secure the closure.

Weave in any loose ends you may have, and you are done!

Feel free to add a cute pom to the top or leave it as is, and enjoy your new beanie. <3
