Get cozy with your very own Sawyer scarf! This crochet triangle scarf can be made any size you would like.
This pattern offers lots of texture! You can use a worsted or DK weight yarn if you prefer a lighter weight scarf. Both options turn out amazing!
The Sawyer scarf was my second ever crochet pattern that I designed, and it’s been my best seller even 5 years later!
I decided it was time to share the pattern FREE here on my blog for everyone to enjoy. If you prefer an ad free PDF you can find the paid pattern in my Etsy and Ravelry Shops.

Intermediate
Hook:
6.00mm J crochet hook
Yarn:
Size 4 yarn. I used Lion Brand Heartland yarn

Here is the scarf crocheted in a DK size 3 weight yarn. I used 2 Lion Brand Mandala Cakes in the color way “Genie”. I didn’t change anything but the yarn size and it turned out great! I personally love the size 3 yarn because it drapes really well and it is not too heavy! Great for spring or early fall.

Tassels (optional)
For this scarf I added three medium sized tassels. One on each end, and one in the middle point of the scarf! Here is a picture tutorial of how to create the tassels.

1- Take yarn and cut two 10 inch pieces (These will be used later)
2- On your four fingers, wrap the yarn around and hold in place with your thumb. Now continue to wrap the yarn around your four fingers for a total of 50 times.
3-Once you have wrapped the yarn around 50 times, cut yarn.
4- Using one of your 10 inches pieces of yarn, pull that yarn through the hole of your wrapped yarn. (use your pointer and middle finger to hold the yarn as you pull it through the hole)
5-Once your 10 inch yarn is through the hole double knot it to secure it. (This will make the strands to attach the tassels to the scarf)
6- Using your second 10 inch piece of yarn, wrap it around the top, (about an inch or so) down from your double knots at the top. Tie and knot this strand (this will create a band)
7- Using your hook pull the loose strand UNDER the “band”.
8- Cut along the BOTTOM. Trim bottom so all strands are the same length.
Once you completed all these steps use your top strands to tie them to the ends and middle point of your scarf. Wrap the loose stands around your hook and pull them through the “band” and trim them to match the rest of your tassel!
