Notes

  • This Cardigan is created in 3 pieces. 1 Back panel. 2 Front panels.
  • Ch 5 counts as a TRC and Ch 1
  • Ch 6 counts as a TRC and Ch 2
  • Ch 3 counts as a DC
  • Ch 4 counts as a DC and Ch 1
  • Sizes will be written XS/S (M/L, XL/2XL, 3XL/4XL, 5XL/6XL)
  • If you want a fitted look crochet your size, if you want a more oversize fit, go up one size group. For reference, I wear a 3X in tops, and I made the 3XL/4XL size. The front panels do not overlap, they barely touch when pulled together with the belt. If I wanted more coverage from my front panels I would go up to the 5XL/6XL size group.
  • This Cardigan is worked from the bottom up. If you do not want the belt version, skip the “Waist Section.”
  • You can make this as long or as short as you would like, just be sure to follow the repeat row number for the waist and ending sections.

Construction

The pink rectangle represents the back panel. The black rectangles represent your front panels. The red dotted lines represent where you will be seaming your pieces together.

Lay your back panel flat.

Lay your front panels on top of the back panel, lining up your corners. You will have a small gap in between this will be for your neck opening. Be sure the first row (hdc row) is at the bottom of all pieces.

Seam shoulders- use yarn needle and yarn, whip stitch starting from outer corner (where green circle is) line up stitch for stitch with back panel. Seam across. Repeat for other front panel.

Seam sides- Starting at the bottom whip stitching upward, to a couple inches above your waist section.

Repeat for the other side.
